Sapphire Princess Mexican Riviera Cruise Report

ITINERARY: 7 Night Mexican Riviera – Los Angeles, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas

Recommendations on Dining options
The Sapphire Princess offers 8 main dining restaurants, plus numerous smaller cafes scattered throughout the ship. All the restaurants were of a very high standard, with all the food extremely tasty, hot and always beautifully presented. The wine list offered an array of choices for all wine connoisseurs with an affordable price list. There were enough restaurants to suit anyone’s food fancies. The only negative point I can make is that as this was a Mexican Riviera cruise, I would have liked to be offered a regional menu depicting a variety of Mexican food. However, not to detract from the experience, the Mexican band playing in the back ground did add to the atmosphere.

Comments on Cabins
The overall size of the cabins, were quite large. The picture windows offered an abundance of natural lighting. It was great to have a walk in wardrobe with lots of hanging space. The dressing table was quite large with ample room for the toiletries. The bathroom is on the smaller side but still sufficient. It was also good to have a mini fridge in the cabin, which was refilled at your request. Another plus were the in house movies playing at all times of the day and night. The balcony cabin were enormous, and the cabin itself has a large separate sitting area leading out to the balcony.

Comments on Entertainment and Daily Activities
The live band was extremely entertaining playing all types music that suited age groups. I have to say that the productions needed a little more attention to storylines and the overall stage & singing needed improving. The tropical outside party was great fun as was the champagne party. These parties get everyone together in one place and one feels like they are on a magical cruise experience. The ship did offer quite a few different bars with small live bands and dancing which was quite enjoyable. There were different daily activities available for all ages. They ranged from sporty deck games, trivial quizzes for the intellectuals to Bingo and the casino for the gamblers. The kids club offered daily fun activities for the kiddies, as did the older clubs for the teens. Of course the entertainment on board does change and twigged to suit each specific destination.

Who would I recommend this product to and why?
The product definitely suits families, first time cruises and the more mature client. There are enough supervised activities available for child and teenagers to keep them occupied while mum & dad relax by the pool. First time cruisers would love a ship of this size as there is are so many things to do. More mature clients like the security of the “Princess” product, its size and facilities.

General Comments:
I found the overall experience on the Sapphire Princess was extremely beneficial as I had not previously experienced this size ship. Sapphire is a new ship and beautifully appointed offering many restaurants, bars, shops and pool areas. The cabins are large, comfortable and well designed. There are good dining options to suit even the more difficult to please palette. Having both adult only and family pools is definitely a big plus giving guests who would like a more quieter environment the opportunity to relax. Cruising in general is a great way to travel however if contemplating a trip to Mexico, I feel that this is one of the best ways in which to visit. The shore excursions on offer give guests a selection of tours that provide a better insight into this area.
