"JAMAICA MAN "
The following day we inspected Sunset at the Palms in and this was a lovely property different feel to where were staying. This would cater really well for families. We made our way to Couples Negril - as the name suggests it is couples only. Lots of Honeymooners and couples just celebrating anniversaries etc. They have a lot of repeat guest and the property is also an all inclusive property.
Moving on to Sandals Negril this is again an all inclusive resort and lots of couples, but they will accept children and they are catered for well.
Country Country was our next stop and this was a very nice smaller resort that was not all inclusive and definitely not as large as the other properties. The location was beautiful and quite.
The following day we head to Montego Bay and along the way visit the following hotels:
Site inspection and lunch at Round Hill Hotel -this was an amazing property with magnificent large villas for family etc. This was one of my favourite properties and truly exclusive with the friendly staff to make you welcome.
Our hotel for the next 2 nights was at the Sandals Royal Caribbean's Ultra All Inclusive in Montego Bay (all meals/ anytime snacks / unlimited premium brand drinks /open bar)- The moment you step through the impressive portals of Sandals Royal Caribbean’s Georgian-style Great House, you know that you have entered a long-forgotten era of gentility, elegance and old-world, British Colonial splendour. Feel all your modern-day cares dissolve as you experience the rich mahogany woods, scintillating chandeliers, soaring colonnades and sumptuous, impeccable service that declare this place to be a throwback to an age of remarkable luxury and unimaginable romance. They have a wide choice of dinning options and we dinned across at the private island where we had a Thai dinner.
Our first stop today is Sandals Montego Bay This property is a sister property to The Sandals Royal where we are staying and with the Sandal properties they allow you to use the facilities at any of the resorts. There are three in Montego Bay and the Sandal Montego Bay is a lovely resort however it located at the airport and the noise could be a problem for some. We found it not such a problem while visiting the property and guest waive to aircraft as they depart which takes away from the noise factor as waiving is to give good luck to the flights taking off and landing.
We then lunched and toured the lovely Half Moon Hotel. This is adjoining a golf course and there are great golf packages as there are two other golf courses near by. There are shops and a church on the property. The property is not near any major towns but it truly was beautiful with magnificent food. A must for golfers to visit or to stay!
We went an optional tour to the Rose Hall Great House, the most famous in Jamaica. It is a Georgian Mansion with a stone base and a plastered upper storey, high on the hillside, with a fantastic panorama over the coast. Built in the 1770s, Rose Hall was restored in the 1960s to its former splendour, with mahogany floors, interior windows and doorways, panelling and wooden ceilings. It is decorated with silk wallpaper printed with palms and birds, ornamented with chandeliers and furnished with mostly European antiques. There's a bar downstairs and a restaurant. Rose Hall is most famous for the story of its mistress Annie Palmer, who came here in 1820, and the fanciful legends of underground tunnels, bloodstains and haunting. A renowned beauty, Annie Palmer was widely feared as a black magician, and she is also supposed to have dispatched three husbands (by poison, by stabbing and then pouring boiling oil into his ears, and by strangling) and innumerable lovers, including slaves, whom she simply killed when she was bored of them. She was 4ft 11ins high and was murdered in her bed. There is little evidence to support the legend, an amusing version of which was written up by H. G. de Lisser in his "White Witch of Rose Hall", though maybe you'll be convinced by the ghostly faces that appear in photographs taken by tourists....After breakfast we head off to Ocho Rios and along the way visit the following hotels:-
A site Inspection and lunch at Hedonism II (this was very interesting). This property is not for everyone and we would need to advise clients who wish to stay at this property exactly type of clientele may go there... It is a lovely property for those who want to get back to nature and enjoy freedom.
Sandals Grande Ocho Rios a very large property and like the other Sandals offers the same inclusive meal and drinks.
Jamaica Inn this would probably be another favourite property - you have the all inclusive dinning option or breakfast or dinner options. They also have the combined dining option which allows you to experience other restaurants outside the property. It is truly a first class property. The spa facilities are magnificent. It seemed smaller and very personal.
We Checked-in Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort - a very large family resort that is very high rise and was more a hotel type property compared with the others visited throughout Jamaica. The property is fantastic for families providing lots of fun for the children and is very popular for weddings and honeymooners. There were a lot of tourist from England and Scotland as there are great packages from there with Virgin Atlantic. A legendary resort – a landmark renovation. The all-inclusive 730-room Sunset Jamaica Grande Resorts continues the celebration of its multi-million dollar rebuilds and refurbishments. A beautiful white-sand beach – the longest in Ocho Rios – fringes the resort. Five lavish pools wander through this beachside complex, featuring waterfalls, plunge pools, swim-up bars and a swaying rope bridge. Known for its wide range of "fun in the sun" daytime activities, guests can also enjoy an abundance of fun after the sun goes down.
Our last full day in Jamaica – only one short site inspection then off to enjoy a few fun activities!
Today’s Highlights – Canopy Tour and Dunn’s River Falls Come back to nature and experience it as it should be experienced. Your journey through nature will be via a series of decks and platforms, connected by traverses, mounted in the trees of the rainforest. We begin with the complete safety briefing and demonstration of techniques conducted by our certified canopy specialist guides who will stay with you throughout your adventure. Then the fun begins with your first traverse, soaring over the Great River.
